Le 21 f\u00e9vrier 2011, Postes Canada amorcera l’\u00e9mission d’une s\u00e9rie de timbres mettant en vedette une artiste canadienne.<\/p>\n

L’heureuse \u00e9lue pour cette ann\u00e9e est Daphne Odjig, une artiste autochtone. Mme. Odjig est n\u00e9e en 1919 \u00e0 Dominic Odjig, membre de la tribu Potawatomi et \u00e0 Joyce Peachy de l’Angleterre. Le talent artistique de Daphne est devenu \u00e9vident \u00e0 un tr\u00e8s jeune \u00e2ge. Elle a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 peindre t\u00f4t, mais a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 sa technique une fois rendue adulte, se r\u00e9f\u00e9rant \u00e0 des revues et des livres d’art pour bien apprendre.<\/p>\n

Elle a un style tr\u00e8s personnalis\u00e9. \u00c7a, ainsi que les couleurs vibrantes de ses \u0153uvres leur donnent un attrait unique. Daphne a \u00e9t\u00e9 la premi\u00e8re artiste f\u00e9minine autochtone \u00e0 exposer ses tableaux en solo \u00e0 la Galerie Nationale du Canada.
