C&rsquo;est quoi du &lsquo;marquage&rsquo; ou &lsquo;tagging&rsquo;? Comment puis-je le d\u00e9tecter sur un timbre? Quelle est la diff\u00e9rence entre un timbre phosphorescent ou fluorescent? C&rsquo;est quoi la diff\u00e9rence entre le marquage &lsquo;Winnipeg&rsquo; et &lsquo;General&rsquo;? Il peut \u00eatre tr\u00e8s frustrant d\u2019avoir ces timbres dans notre collection mais d\u2019\u00eatre incapable de les diff\u00e9rencier des \u00e9missions normales et ainsi, de les cataloguer.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cet article r\u00e9pondra donc aux deux questions suivantes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Qu&rsquo;est ce qu&rsquo;un timbre au marquage phosphorescent ou fluorescent et pourquoi ces deux sortes de marquage ont-ils \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9s?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Comment peut-on les diff\u00e9rencier l&rsquo;un de l&rsquo;autre?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>En premier lieu, il est important de noter que nous parlons de &lsquo;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">marquage<\/span>&lsquo; et non de <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">papier fluorescent<\/span>. Un timbre avec papier fluorescent contient des fibres fluorescentes incorpor\u00e9es dans le papier lui-m\u00eame. Lorsqu&rsquo;on visionne le timbre sous la lumi\u00e8re d&rsquo;une lampe U.V., le papier entier \u00e9met une lueur fluorescente. L&rsquo;intensit\u00e9 de cette lueur peut varier, ce qui explique pourquoi diff\u00e9rents termes sont employ\u00e9s par des catalogues de timbres, tels que le <a title=\"Catalogue Unitrade sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 des timbres du Canada-\u00e9dition 2011 anglais\" href=\"https:\/\/www.arpinphilately.com\/fr\/itm\/le-catalogue-unitrade-specialise-des-timbres-canadiens\">catalogue Unitrade sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 des timbres du Canada<\/a>. Par exemple: <strong>HF<\/strong>(haute fluorescence), <strong>DF<\/strong>(terne), <strong>LF<\/strong>(bas), et <strong>HB<\/strong>(haute brillance).<\/p>\n<p>Qu&rsquo;est-ce qu&rsquo;un timbre avec marquage? C&rsquo;est un timbre sur-impressionn\u00e9 avec des barres luminescentes qui \u00e9mettent une lueur lorsqu&rsquo;on le visionne avec une lampe U.V. Ces barres, d\u00e9finies comme un &lsquo;marquage&rsquo;, sont sur-impressionn\u00e9es sur le timbre avec un mat\u00e9riel\u00a0<strong><em> <\/em><\/strong> soit phosphorescent ou fluorescent.<\/p>\n<p>Pourquoi ces deux sortes de marquage ont-elles \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9es? \u00c0 vrai dire, pour sauver du temps! Au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1960, la quantit\u00e9 de courrier \u00e9tant toujours en augmentation, il devenait de plus en plus difficile de le traiter efficacement. \u00c9videmment, on n&rsquo;oblit\u00e9rait plus les enveloppes \u00e0 la main, les employ\u00e9s des bureaux de poste employaient des machines de triages. Par contre, ils devaient y ins\u00e9rer l&rsquo;enveloppe de la bonne fa\u00e7on et du bon bord afin que le timbre soit correctement oblit\u00e9r\u00e9, et m\u00eame cela demandait beaucoup de temps. Postes Canada avait besoin d&rsquo;une autre m\u00e9thode sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e pour \u00e9pargner encore plus de temps.<\/p>\n<p>En 1962, une nouvelle machine a donc \u00e9t\u00e9 invent\u00e9e pour d\u00e9tecter le marquage\u00a0 sur les timbres. Ces marquages permettaient aux machines de distinguer o\u00f9 le timbre \u00e9tait plac\u00e9 sur l&rsquo;enveloppe, de changer l&rsquo;enveloppe de c\u00f4t\u00e9 si n\u00e9cessaire et ensuite d&rsquo;oblit\u00e9rer le timbre \u00e0 la bonne place. Vive la technologie!<\/p>\n<p>Comment peut-on identifier les diff\u00e9rents marquages? Il y a deux diff\u00e9rents types, les phosphorescents et les fluorescents. Ces deux marquages sont luminescents et r\u00e9agissent \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re U.V., quoique diff\u00e9remment.<\/p>\n<p>Le marquage phosphorescent a d\u00e9but\u00e9 en 1962 et fut appel\u00e9 marquage Winnipeg due au fait que la nouvelle machine a \u00e9t\u00e9 test\u00e9e dans la ville de Winnipeg, Manitoba. Il peut \u00eatre difficile de distinguer ce marquage sur un timbre, m\u00eame avec une lampe U.V. Dans une pi\u00e8ce sombre, placez le timbre sous la lampe pendant quelques secondes. Ensuite, enlevez la lampe et regardez le timbre. Il devrait \u00e9mettre une faible lueur apr\u00e8s 1-2 secondes, ce n&rsquo;est pas toujours \u00e9vident. Vous pouvez \u00e9galement visionner le timbre \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153il nu sous diff\u00e9rents angles \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re du jour. Le marquage pourra aussi \u00eatre d\u00e9tect\u00e9 sur le papier comme \u00e9tant une bande l\u00e9g\u00e8rement plus fonc\u00e9e ou ombrag\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Le marquage Winnipeg phosphorescent fut utilis\u00e9 pendant 10 ans. Malheureusement, le premier compos\u00e9 employ\u00e9, OP4, a d\u00fb \u00eatre discontinu\u00e9 parce qu\u2019on a d\u00e9couvert que le composant fluorescent se transf\u00e9rait d&rsquo;un timbre \u00e0 l&rsquo;autre. Le d\u00e9veloppement d&rsquo;un deuxi\u00e8me composant, OP2, r\u00e9gla ce probl\u00e8me et est la mati\u00e8re de choix depuis 1973. Alors, comment discerner si un timbre a le marquage-General? Facilement! On peut voir les barres \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153il nu, car elles apparaissent comme des barres plus brillantes sur le papier. \u00c9galement, sous une lampe U.V., ces barres fluorescentes brillent jaune-vert.<\/p>\n<p>Une lampe U.V. \u00e0 ondes longues est le meilleur outil pour visionner les timbres du Canada avec marquage. Un petit conseil: il ne faudrait pas regarder l&rsquo;ampoule trop longtemps, car certains pensent que cela pourrait endommager les yeux.
