Le premier pas est de conna\u00eetre la diff\u00e9rence entre une contrefa\u00e7on et un faux timbre.<!--more--><!--more--><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Une contrefa\u00e7on, est un timbre qui est copi\u00e9 de l\u2019original \u00e0 partir de papier vierge. Le but, \u00e9videmment, est de frauder le gouvernement et aussi d\u2019escroquer les collectionneurs. Il ne faut pas se leurrer en pensant que seulement les timbres dispendieux sont les cibles des faussaires. En reproduisant des timbres communs pouvant \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s pour la poste, des fraudeurs peuvent \u00e9viter de payer pour l\u2019affranchissement. \u00c9galement, au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1900, plusieurs utilisaient de ces timbres de contrefa\u00e7ons pour remplir certains espaces de leurs albums, de cette fa\u00e7on leurs collections rev\u00eataient une plus belle apparence. Cette pratique eut pour effet d\u2019inonder le march\u00e9 de cette \u00e9poque et quelques sp\u00e9cimens ont surv\u00e9cu jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce jour.<\/p>\n<p>Un faux timbre est un timbre commun qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 modifi\u00e9 ou encore alt\u00e9r\u00e9 pour ressembler \u00e0 un autre timbre, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement plus dispendieux. Il existe plusieurs fa\u00e7ons de changer l\u2019apparence d\u2019un timbre.
