Daphne showed artistic ability at a young age and began painting seriously as an adult, learning her craft from books and magazines. Her stylized approach and use of colour make her paintings and drawings stand out. Her solo show at the National Gallery of Canada was the first ever by a First Nation woman artist.

This year’s stamps feature three of her paintings: Pow-wow Dancer, Spiritual Renewal and Pow-wow.
