An Arpin Philately initiative – Dealing in Quality Stamps since 1969
On August 10th, 2009, Canada Post will begin issuing a new series of stamps commemorating various sports invented by Canadians. The four stamps will feature five-pin bowling, ringette, lacrosse, and basketball. These stamps will feature illustrations of the equipment used in each sport, plus a faint background drawing of the playing field for each sport.
On July 6th, 2009, Canada Post began issuing a new series of stamps highlighting various roadside attractions across Canada. A Canadian road trip can be an exciting scenic experience. This year however, we celebrate the quirky manmade attractions which have delighted drivers for many years.
Continuing this year’s series of commemorative stamps is a new issue featuring Captain Robert Bartlett beginning on July 10th, 2009. Bartlett (1875-1946) came from a seafaring Newfoundland based family, and in his adult life developed a love for the Arctic.
On July 2nd, 2009, Canada Post began issuing a series of stamps honouring four more Canadian artists. The four include : Robert Charlebois, Édith Butler, Stompin’ Tom Connors and Bryan Adams. Let’s get to know them a little bit more.
On June 12th, 2009, Canada Post began issuing a stamp commemorating the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Boundary Waters Treaty between Canada and the United States. This treaty, negotiated by George C. Gibbons and signed in 1909, regulates issues regarding the use of the waterways along the boundary of the two nations.
On June 1st, 2009, Canada Post began issuing a stamp highlighting the role of Canadian diplomacy over the past 100 years. This domestic-rate stamp commemorates the Centennial of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Internation Trade.
